As a painter paints pictures on a wall, the intellect goes on creating the world in the heart always. ~Brahmananda Saraswati

The heart is the perfection of the whole organism.  Therefore the principles of the power of perception and the soul’s ability to nourish itself must lie in the heart.  ~Aristotle

The wedding was absolutely gorgeous.  The best friend of the bride came to sit by me at the outdoor chapel in the deepest part of the park.  Spirit had led her to me, as the tears flowing out of her eyes were not for her friend’s happiness, but her own aloneness.  the family started taking pictures, but this young woman stomped out creating a scene because she had been asked to move.  She felt the place was a lesser place, an affront to her position as the maiden of honor.   She flew in tears down a path behind the old log house that sat beside the Chapel at the state park nearby my home.  I had been up  this trail many times so I followed her.  In her haste, the long flowing gown, my vision was that she would fall.  Of course, this is how I found her. Twisted ankle, sobbing into the trunk of a fallen tree.  As we spoke, I explained to her how her jealousy was ruining not only her day, but the day of her friend who she loved.  She couldn’t realize that jealousy is a harsh spirit overtaking the heart but doesn’t come from the heart.  This spirit which can grow into such a demon comes from our minds.  We build up the problems, making them bigger in our hearts.  Our intellect tells us that it is not fair that SHE is getting married while we are alone.  We blame others, that jerk we were with, we absolutely blame the powers that are higher than ourselves.  We forget that spirit sees the heart.  Jealousy for others happiness that we have to create within our own heart takes over leaving no room for the goodness we can receive.   Of course, we want our family, our friends to prosper, be happy, be safe.  Yet still, our minds try to take over creating the very wall that stops our heart from receiving.  We must paint our own picture in our heart with our thoughts. we must change our perception to “wow, she received , so will I “ letting our thoughts bring joy in our hearts.

animal totems :  One of my favorite totems : Sister Horse teaches us to free our hearts from the dark thoughts we have, running free, powerful to bring new travels new journeys into our lives.  Adventures, new opportunities come as we allow our hearts to open to the wild open range.  Sister horse medicine reminds us to use our heart not our head !
