Knowing trees, I understand the meaning of patience. Knowing grass, I can appreciate persistence. Hal Borland

And I, sit and wait, with baited breath for new days. The winds blow the changes of life’s simple ways. A twist in the path, a curve in the road, the fruits of the steps of seeds we have sowed. And here I stand with my heart in my hand, looking for answers of love, send the words out to the universe above bring the hope back alive, with patience we strive to see. – deborahmills © 2017

Don’t ask for patience as the lessons to learn patience are not easy to swallow. Yet patience is a virtue we all learn, throughout the path of life.  In Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, 1868 © the young sisters are given a book called Pilgrim’s Progress ( 1678 John Bunyon©).  This book taught about how to maneuver the pressures, bumps, logs in the road with grace, dignity, and peace.  This is the key. We are all going to have some issues, problems, learning how to ride these days out with grace, peace, patience is our constant lessons.  Steps to teach ourselves patience.  1. Meditation. This tool is clearing our mind to listen.  Opening up to hear whatever spirit tells us.  Jumping up in the am, to rush to get coffee, breakfast, kids off, to work, stopping to clear out mind makes us impatient to start our day. Stopping, sitting, clearing our mind even for 5 minutes, creates the habit, the practice of being patient early in the morning.  2. Baking Bread or making candy.  Cooking is a skilled art, that requires us to take time, patience.  Waiting while the bread rises, or the syrup boils until the right temp teaches us to discipline ourselves for patience.  3. Manifestation of dreams.  Decide our dream. Write it down. Write down goal date, plan A, plan b, and then when the time frame needs to be expanded, Plan C.  4. Ask the gods for patience.  ( but ask that our spirit be willing without harsh lessons ) then Dream on, Dream big, Dream
