From a distance, there is harmony, And it echoes through the land. It’s the voice of hope, it’s the voice of peace, It’s the voice of every man. From a distance we all have enough, And no one is in need. And there are no guns, no bombs, and no disease, No hungry mouths to feed. From a distance we are instruments Marching in a common band. Playing songs of hope, playing songs of peace. They’re the songs of every man. God is watching us. God is watching us. God is watching us from a distance.- Julie Gold sung by Bette Midler
make me an instrument of Your peace; Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon ;Where there is error, truth; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy .O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek To be consoled as to console; To be understood as to understand; To be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; (widely but erroneously attributed to the 13th-century saint Francis of Assisi. The prayer in its present form cannot be traced back further than 1912, when it was printed in Paris in French, in a small spiritual magazine called La Clochette (The Little Bell), published by La Ligue de la Sainte-Messe (The Holy Mass League). The author’s name was not given, although it may have been the founder of La Ligue, Fr. Esther Bouquerel.)
The gods have looked down on the cold hard world, renewing much of the Mother Earth with a touch of warmth to show us that somewhere, something more has us in mind. Somewhere, something more than mere humans is watching, waiting, knowing the exact right moment to bring peace, comfort, joy into our lives, into our dreams. See, we all have burdens to bear, crosses to carry, but as humans, we find our reality is right now in this moment. Blink our eyes, this moment is done, gone, only HOW we reacted to this moment lingers to affect our future, our inner peace. We allow the burdens to get us down, our support group, family , friends tell us we are crazy to continue to believe. Yet our hearts refuse to let go! How wondrous our thoughts, our own faith must be to give us the gift of hanging on, in believing when we can no longer “see” to believe. I am often amazed at the inner strength in people as everyday I try to be an instrument to help each one continue on. I do not create this desire, create the ability to go on, but am the instrument to lift up one more day when we lose sight of the vision, we are weary of the dream as there seems to be no end. What a blessings we have to be an instrument to continue to affirm with faith, a vessel of spirit to continue to ask of the heavens, to petition the gods, to be a part of the manifestation of the dreams. In a distance, not too far over the horizon, we are being watched, loved, taken care of, in all ways.
