Freedom is the oxygen of the soul.  ~Moshe Dayan

There are two freedoms – the false, where a man is free to do what he likes; the true, where he is free to do what he ought.  ~Charles Kingsley

Three puppies all under age two years look up at me in expectation.  Breakfast time is one of the first things after coming back in from our walk outside.  Benefield brand is the one I use.  After researching many different types, finding the good ones about the same, the reason I use Benefield’s is quite strange.  See, this brand comes packed in little bins, with a plastic top to store the food if not used all in one setting. Of course with my three, we actually use 2 bins of food each time.  Then glory of glories, it has a most wonderful box, for me to ship out my candles, soaps, body mist etc if we buy the 12 pack!  Boxes, Bins, for the flower child of the universe, that my mother described to people as “freespirited”  when in truth, most likely rebellious, stubborn etc to find safety in boxes, bins, tubs that close is amazing.   See, keeping lines, rules, trying to fit others into Our Box, makes us feel safe, secure.  Everything in my house is boxed, binned, labeled, tagged.  This custom some call OCD, type A, but to me staying scheduled, knowing where things are at all times, is security, safety, assurance that at least at home all is right in the world.  When our love partner tries to put us in a box of the lifestyle he/she has, this doesn’t mean we are not loved, this person needs reassurance.  We have to make sure that we are conveying we can be different yet still moving toward the same goals.  In fact of truth a type A with a type B sometimes can bring balance to our world.  We are all free to do as we like, we can roam the world, we can have everything exactly our way.  Oh yes we can.  Yet in the end, we will find that having lines drawn, boundaries, expectations, boxes, bins, doing what we ought, will make us more free than running in chaos.

Animal totems:  Ostrich is an excellent totem for cleaning , clearing, keeping house in safe, secure, organized manner.  Sorting out what is useful, what is needed, then letting go of the unnecessary junk in our way.  Stepping outside of the boxes, finding our lines, rules, this Sister Ostrich’s medicine is not to hide our head In our boxes, our bins, keep the lines, the rules to feel safe but don’t use them to hide from the world, or love.  She is truly connected to the spiritual world, allowing the universe, Mother earth to guide from both the earthly plane, and the spiritual plane, to heal.
