I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase – Martin Luther King, Jr.
Durham, NC, 1957,Royal Ice Cream parlor, 7 people staged a sit- in at the counter refusing to give up the seats, demanding service. These people were of course, of color. I was three years old. Of course, I barely remember that year, but over the next 10-12 years, I can remember the changes. See, when I started school, there was a segregated black school. I didn’t know it. We didn’t talk about it. Yet, I do remember when my great – grandmother died, the housekeeper who had been a friend as well as part of the family came to the funeral home, she was told to go to the back door. My family went got her, proudly took her to the front, took her to the first row just like the rest of the family. In those years, to think we would have a president of color is something we could never have imagined. Now whether we like his policies or not, is the man, his administration, not his color, race, or even gender. This fantastic hero, Martin Luther King, Jr who we celebrate today, taught us much about dreams. Dreams are important, dreams are what will make tomorrow. Many times, when I share the first response is Deb, I just don’t “see” it. No, we can’t see the whole staircase ( that’s actually MY job, my mission, not the person I’m sharing with ) , but to be open minded enough to know that anything is possible. See, this is the legacy MLK left behind. Not just that race is not important, but that dreams are. Don’t stop dreaming, take the first sep even when we can’t see the whole staircase yet.
Animal totems: Otter – Playful Sister Otter always is curious. She is curios to see what will happen next. This totem reminds us to expect the unexpected, to expect miracles when we dream. She naps on a rock in the sun dreaming dreams by the Water, as she enjoys all the energies of life. She is female oriented generally, reminding us to not consistently be suspicious, untrusting before we have reason to not trust. Trust in the high spirit of love, of hope with this totem.
I am here today this am. Everything is closed, so no normal errands, business meetings etc. It was a little quiet last night. I’m concerned as I heard from some clients that they were rerouted to other advisors when clicking on my site. This is a glitch. Not something that the keen company or myself intended. Write me and let me know if this is happening to you. Also there has been some problems with finding your favorites. Google or search engine : keen.com/deborahmills to reach the right page. I am also sending out free minutes this am so you can click on this link. I’m sure that the keen system will have these kinks worked out soon, but we want to help you see the whole staircase. May the fairies dance around each of us today. Love ya, Me, Cherokee, Cidro, Frankiecapone, Sugar Fortune Cookie, T and the sweet spirit of Bob and bEts.
