From the hills of Tennessee, the young black woman was born prematurely as the twentieth child of her father’s 22 children. She had polio, infantile paralysis, and was too small for her age. Yet just 4 years after she learned to walk on her own, she ran. And ran, and not only did she run, but she ran fast. TSU seeing her for the wonder she was, she made in sports, in life.
