When the night has been too lonely, and the road has been too long, You think that love belongs only to the lucky and the strong. Just remember in the winter, far below the bitter snow, lies the seed, that with the sun’s love in the spring, becomes the lovely rose – nurturinglife
The winter solstice has always been special to me as a barren darkness that gives birth to a verdant future beyond imagination, a time of pain and withdrawal that produces something joyfully inconceivable, like a monarch butterfly masterfully extracting itself from the confines of its cocoon, bursting forth into unexpected glory. We cannot stop the winter or the summer from coming. We cannot stop the spring or the fall or make them other than they are. They are gifts from the universe that we cannot refuse. But we can choose what we will contribute to life when each arrives. Gary Zukav
A light dusting on pure white snow is on the deck benches this morning when we arise to greet Father Sol, the sun. Grey clouds cover his warm face so that only a shimmer of bright light filters through a misty sky. Yet he has warmed the earth enough that the snow melts nurturing the Mother Earth’s soils. His love touches the seeds planted there, either by us or Father Wind for the upcoming new births of spring. Although Father Wind is biting cold, with his small nips on our face sending us scurrying back into the heat of the house. Wanting to wrap back up into the blankets, we know that we must face the winds, the cold, to enter the world, to start our day. Prepared for the hard times, we look forward to the freshness of the good times. We know through the conflicts, the harsh realities, the dream grows, is nurtured, we keep faith stronger, happier Steps to handling winter blues: 1. Spiritual rituals of thanks. Get up and be thankful for the beauty of the crisp clean snow. 2. Find something creative. Build a snowman, make snow ice cream. ( watch the yellow or slush. Best thing is the minute it starts snowing put a clean bowl outside to catch clean fresh snow. 3. Write, Journal, paint, pour our feelings out into the art. 4. Sing, dance, yoga, exercise. Get the blood flowing, the heart pumping to take oxygen to the brain. 5. Do one good thing for someone less fortune ,and then Dream. . Dream on Dream Big. Dream
Animal totems: Raven: Bro Raven is the messenger from the gods. His totem’s power cycle is winter, as his shape-shifting ability to transform. His power is to carry the messages to the gods, hold the seeds tight then bring the unexpected back to your faith. His medicine reminds us to listen to spirit’s message even when we lose faith or disagree because there is no “facts” to back spirit up\
Lady Moon is Waning Crescent with the illumination of 3 % for tomorrow’s dark moon. She remains in Virgo, in the 4th quarter in Virgo as well. Today is Martin Luther King Jr Day. He is one of my favorites, as I remember, “I have a dream.” His message to all was always Peace, Love, and Dreams of a better tomorrow. At his knees, we, the children of the 50s,60s, learned to love and more importantly to always dream. Continue to dream.
